    Longboard wheels

Posted by Thomas on May 25th 2018

I built a longboard for my nephew and wanted it to be different then the junk they sell at the local mall. I went with a 40” blank deck with a blue stain on the bottom, Avenue suspension trucks and these awesome wheels with the upgraded wheel bearings. I was extremely happy with the way everything turned out. I liked the wheels so much I bought a second set for my niece’s board. They are both very happy with the Shark Wheels!

    70 MM Shark Wheel

Go for the 70MM shark wheels. The 60MM shark wheel was slightly better than the wheels that came with my longboard even though it was a little smaller but the70MM Shark wheel was allot better than the 60MM shark wheel. These wheels make a big difference. The most noticeable difference is they run smoother over rough concrete and pebbles. They also seem to be a bit faster than regular wheels. Pebbles will occasionally stop a shark wheel but only at really slow speeds when your board is loosing momentum and not as often as a regular wheel. I would say I get about 75% less pebbles stopping my board with shark wheels. I eat less pavement with shark wheels. Sliding and tricks are not a part of my riding style but I cruse up and down hills almost every day and I recommend 70MM shark wheels, Avenue Trucks and Oust 9 bearings, cleaned with engine degreeser, and lubed with Oust metal lube.

I love shark wheels and would be excited to try some 80 or 90 MM shark wheels, or some Shark wheels made out of a harder material. or perhaps some shark wheels that are thinner. I know they would not grip the road as well that way but maybe they would be even faster. I tried regular wheels and even razor scooter wheels and the 70MM shark wheel notably out performs them both. Now they just got to put some led light in them. I want to buy some light up shark wheels..... lol. : )

"Wow, I didn't know reinventing the wheel was probable, I have been persuaded otherwise! I notice the difference as soon as I rode out of my garage. I was a tad skeptical at first on the shape, but I have fallen in love with these wheels.
Everything is so smooth now, for me this fits my style more. Not only does it look amazing it works far better than my old set. To give you some perspectives...Imagine putting summer tires on your car, sure they will grip a whole lot better, but they have a far firmer ride.
In the case of the shark wheels, image it being similar to a high performance all season tire. Sure you lose a bit of grip but at the same time, they provide a safer ride everywhere else. They can grip in the rain/dirt/sand far better than the normal solid wheels.
The groves in these wheels help repel road matters out from under instead of gliding over them. In conclusion, I am very happy with the purchase and recommend this to my friends.
I wouldn't get these as sliding wheels, though; they are rather expensive, and I would not feel comfortable destroying these wheels."

The width is increased, but the friction is decreased! The sine wave design provides three lips per wheel for superior lateral grip. When you want to slide, they break away smoothly and recover easily.

The wave pattern design allows for a thin contact patch touching the ground and therefore less friction, resulting in a quicker ride.

The alternating pattern of grooves significantly reduces hydroplaning by channeling liquid, sand or gravel out and away from the surface of the wheel, allowing for a firm contact patch with the ground.
