    After 4 days

Posted by Justin Nakatsuka on Jan 9th 2021

I am almost at the upper limit of the recommended age for this board, so if you were also born in 1971, this review might be of interest. I've only had the board a week so I can't speak to long term things like durability or battery endurance.

    Unboxing and Setup
    - I wish there was a Quickstart Guide. The manual is obviously made in Asia so the English is a little bit off but my main problem was that I was so eager to try the board, I couldn't make myself read the entire thing and there was at least one detail that would have helped make the first ride easier.
    - My board arrived (in Canada) quite quickly - around 3 weeks after ordering. It had to be shipped twice because the first time, UPS Customs sent it back to Sharkwheel because it didn't have the Hazardous Goods paperwork (for the battery). The duty and taxes to get it into Canada added $120 CDN (to the cost).
    - Installing the Shredlights (highly recommended) was a bit fussy. Shredlight is a separate company so these are not specifically made for Sharkwheel and the fit to the trucks is not totally perfect. The bolt holes line up but the mounting plate has to bend over the truck mold a bit. I ended up shaving down the mounting plates with a dremel to get them to fit better.
    - Lots of people complain that the grip tape covers the bolts, which you need to access to install the Shredlights. True. But all you have to do is take the hex key that comes with the board (great multi-wrench included with this board) and poke it into the grip tape over the bolt head. When you hit the top of the bolt, the wrench can be twisted through the tape into the bolt and then you're golden with minimal damage to the tape.
    - After that, I was good to go. Everything in the box arrived pretty much fully charged - which was great.

Riding (the remote display is in metric kph so that's the units I'll use here)
    - The power of the board is a bit breath-taking if you're never ridden an electric board before (I hadn't). On the lowest speed setting, it's super comfortable and chill (like 9kph). Medium is definitely more fun - hitting around 20kph.
    - The only problem I had right off the bat, was that the brakes are brutally strong. I totally missed that there are different braking levels and my board arrived set at level 3 braking (hence my wish for a Quickstart Guide). I came VERY close to being thrown off the front of the board the first time I tried them. Even after figuring out that I could lower the strength, at level one I'm still reluctant to use the brakes at high speed. There's very little nuance to the braking - it's difficult to make them engage partially and when they grab, you'd better have that front foot planted strongly.
    - On day 3 of having the board, I was up to level 3 (H) for speed and cruised the local cycling paths at 30kph, passing cyclists. It was great. I am yet to push the board into max speed at H+ setting. At 30kph, I could feel the possibility of speed wobbles but it never got there. After a couple kilometers of riding, there was still no drop in the battery level so I'm pleased about that.
    - The board went easily across a rough wooden bridge that was wet and slippery, knocked gravel out of the way.
    - On day 2 it was raining so I hit the University parkade. They have anti-skateboard strips installed at several spots and the Sharkwheels barely feel them.

    Uses other than cruising
    - I have a Freebord which, if you don't know, is like a snowboard for pavement. The hassle is that it's meant for downhill so if you don't have people to do it with (I've never seen anyone else in Canada with one), there's a lot of hiking uphill involved. With a backpack sling for the Sharkwheel, I expect to be able to use the Sharkwheel as my chairlift. Shark to the top, Freebord down. Repeat.

    Customer Service
    - Amazing. I can't even believe how fast and helpful they are over email. Super impressed. I wish I was this good at customer service in my own business.

I waited and researched for years before buying an electric board and I feel like I made a really good choice with Sharkwheel.

    Excellent costumer service

Posted by Jet Lo on Dec 31st 2020

I just got my board after a long wait. Unfortunately a few things went wrong with my order. The costumer service is one of the best I've come across on any platform. They're consistent with replying back and taking care of you.

    The Best One

Posted by Bruno Quispe on Dec 31st 2020

I was looking for an electric skateboard until I came across this one. It's my first electric skateboard and by far is the best one. I have waited months for this skateboard and when I rode it. It was perfect. How it handles the road, sidewalk, and sometimes the grass. The milages, the speed is perfect too. Let's not forget about the braking too. So many options to choose from on the control. By far perfect. As my first electric skateboard. This is by far the best one!!!

    Shark electric longboard!

Posted by Savanna Benoit on Dec 29th 2020

I cannot tell you the excitement that one through my body when I saw this package on my doorstep! This is probably the best thing I have ever bought! My legs get so tired from pushing my board all of the time and now I don’t even have to get off of my board now! I love that they have different modes and that it rides so smooth! It took about 19 days from the day I ordered it to ship and took about 25 days to arrive at my doorstep. Definitely worth the money and I am now addicted to riding this thing everyday! 100000/10 Recommend buying this product if you like to longboard or just like riding around and cruising! THANKS SHARK WHEEL!

Had this about a week and so far its well made, and very cool looking. Only downside is its heavy but thats to be expected with the size of the battery pack. I have ridden right over rocks on the path that on other wheels would caused a wipeout and it just plows over it. Can wait till I get a bit better and can do some full speed runs, its fast!

    Great but one tiny problem

Posted by Steven Carpenter on Dec 27th 2020

The skateboard is fantastic. First electric ever and the wheels are amazing. The only thing I can say is an issue is the wheel bearings are squint as heck. And I’ve only had it for a couple of days. Also I don’t know if mileage per charge is 25 like it said. But then again I went max 14 miles. But overall. The product is amazing. I never got the backpack though even though I think I did click on it for it. Oh well. Still an awesome skateboard though.
