Longboard Bomber
A 38-inch double-kick hybrid originally created for fast cruising, freeride sessions, aggressive carving and riders looking for more versatility from one board.
The Bomber was a compact longboard / long-skateboard hybrid from Shiver Boards, designed for riders who wanted a smooth ride without giving up maneuverability, carving performance or freeride potential.
Longboard comfort combined with a more maneuverable double-kick platform.
Originally designed for fast cruising, carving and more aggressive riding.
The original setup could be paired with Sidewinder or Mako longboard wheels.
A Versatile Longboard Hybrid
The original Bomber was designed as a bridge between a conventional skateboard and a traditional longboard. Its 38-inch deck provided more standing room and stability than a standard skateboard while retaining the responsiveness of a double-kick shape.
That combination made it suitable for riders who wanted one setup for fast cruising, freeride sessions, aggressive carving and hill-oriented riding.
The board was originally recommended for intermediate through intermediate-advanced riders because its geometry and component selection were aimed at a more performance-oriented riding style.
The Bomber was not designed as a passive cruising board. Its original concept centered on responsiveness, stronger carving and giving riders room to progress into more demanding longboard riding.
Built Around Performance
The original Bomber used a 100% Canadian maple deck and reverse-kingpin trucks, creating a setup aimed at longboard stability while preserving turning response.
Its 38-inch length was selected to provide greater maneuverability than many larger longboards while still retaining enough deck space for a comfortable stance.
The original deck design was associated with skateboard deck maker Paul Schmitt and was built around all-around performance rather than a single riding discipline.

Fast Cruising, Carving and Freeride
What made the Bomber interesting was its ability to work across several riding styles instead of being limited to one specific use.
Fast Cruising
The longer platform and longboard wheel setup gave riders a more stable base for higher-speed cruising.
Aggressive Carving
Reverse-kingpin trucks and the hybrid deck format were designed to support responsive turns and deeper carving.
Freeride
The Bomber offered enough board length and wheel performance for riders moving into freeride-oriented riding.
Double Kick
Unlike a traditional pintail, the double-kick shape added another level of maneuverability and board control.
Shark Wheel Technology
The wheels were an important part of the original Bomber concept. Shark Wheel's sine-wave geometry combines a wide overall wheel profile with a narrower rolling contact pattern.
The design is intended to provide grip and control while interacting differently with small debris, cracks and imperfect terrain than a traditional circular-profile wheel.
Shark Wheel also uses three geometric lips per wheel, which are designed to provide lateral control while allowing the wheel to transition smoothly into a slide.
The original Bomber article offered Sidewinder or Mako 70mm Shark Wheels. Today, the 70mm Sidewinder remains an active Shark Wheel longboard product.
70mm Sidewinder Today
Shark Wheel currently sells the 70mm 78a Sidewinder as a longboard cruising wheel.
The current Sidewinder collection is positioned for cruising, freeriding and rough-terrain riding while balancing speed, grip and control.
For riders interested in recreating some of the performance character of the original Bomber, the Sidewinder is the closest currently available wheel family from the original specification.
The Bomber Concept Today
The original Bomber product page is no longer active, so this article should now be treated as a historical look at one of Shark Wheel and Shiver's earlier performance-oriented complete boards.
Shark Wheel's current longboard lineup has evolved. Complete boards now include 38-inch and 39-inch models such as pintails and drop-down longboards equipped primarily with current-generation 72mm DNA wheels.
Riders who liked the Bomber's original idea can still explore modern Shark Wheel longboards or build a custom setup around the current 70mm Sidewinder.
